Rosalia Torres-Weiner has soccer running through her veins. Her love for the sport is matched only by her passion for her culture and the art through which she explores it. Rosalia’s vibrant and distinct style will take center stage as she designs this year’s Por La Cultura campaign.
Rosalia is an artist, activist and community leader in Charlotte, NC. Her art captures the themes, colors and rich symbolism of her native home of Mexico. In 2010, Rosalia shifted the focus of her work from commercial art to art activism, after witnessing the repeated injustices and dysfunction of our immigration system.

Rosalia chose vibrant colors to represent the diversity of Hispanic cultures, from Mexico to Argentina, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. Flowers symbolize growth, while hummingbirds represent her ancestors, guiding spirits in her Mexican heritage. The team is like honey, a metaphor for the beauty of migration, attracting people from all backgrounds. The woman in the painting is a reflection of Rosalia herself, with colors on her face representing the diversity of the soccer-loving community. Look closely, and you’ll notice the net pattern in her eyebrow, inspired by a soccer goal.
Charlotte FC is honored to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month by highlighting the significance of family, food and fútbol within these communities.
